This position will be eligible to participate in a comprehensive benefit plan which includes a pension plan as defined below. Pension—Steward shall make bi-weekly contributions to the Nurses and Local 813 IBT Retirement Fund (the “Plan,”) equal to 5% of “W-2 Compensation” earned in a “LMA Position” by each “Eligible Employee” during the applicable bi-weekly period. The Emergency department registered nurse assumes full and ultimate responsibility for the quality of nursing care she/he provides to individuals and groups. Included in such responsibility is health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning and restoration of optimal functioning and comfort or for the dignified death of those they serve. The Emergency Department registered nurse, within the parameters of his/her generic and continuing education experience, may delegate nursing activities to other registered nurses and/or health care personnel, provided that the delegating registered nurse shall bear full and ultimate responsibility for the patient outcomes.
The Emergency Department RN provides care that addresses the specific needs of age groups from infant to elderly, and is also individualized to a variety of needs specific to impairments such as hearing, sight, substance abuse, non-English speaking, and potential victims of abuse. The Emergency department RN incorporates knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision and values into nursing practice at GSMC. A qualified RN may be required to fill the charge nurse role as needed and is responsible for supervision of other health care personnel caring for patients assigned to the registered nurses’ care
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Position requires a minimum of three (3) years' nursing experience in and emergency department.
BSN preferred; Graduate from an approved school of nursing required.
Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience in an emergency department is required.
Valid Massachusetts RN license, ACLS Certification, and PALS or ENPC required. TNCC or TCAR required.
Experience with Meditech strongly preferred.
