Med Lab Tech - Lab Support ; per diem
Varied shift start times on first and second shift
4 shifts per month minimum (including 1 weekend day) required according to per diem policy
2 holidays required annually according to per diem policy
The Medical Laboratory Technologist, under general supervision performs a wide variety of routine and specialized studies on blood, urine and body fluids samples as requisitioned by a physician, to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, following established standards and practices. Independent judgment, professional education and certification are required. Will assist the department Laboratory Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the department.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (ASCP) or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, including 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 hours of biology and successful completion of a NAACLS MLT program, or CLA (ASCP) certification or successful completion of 50 week U.S. military medical laboratory training course.
Minimum Work Experience:
Successful rotation through all clinical laboratory departments or its equivalent. Requires six months clinical training and three months on the job training to become familiar with the hospital's policy and procedures and to become proficient in all phases of the job requirements.
Other skills and abilities:
Maintains effective communication skills across the entire customer base. Must be able to adapt and work in a collaborative fashion with all hospital departments and customers.
ASCP eligible or other acceptable Certification agency.
