The Registered Nurse (RN) assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the Emergency Department for a designated time frame. The ED Registered Nurse is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care of patients in correlation with the Nursing Process, Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Acts, Emergency Nurses Association standards of care, Easton Hospital standards of care, philosophy, mission, and the medical plan of treatment and care.
Must possess a current Pennsylvania license as a Registered Nurse.
Desirable characteristics include at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in the Emergency Department or Critical Care Services field. Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards, when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
Must possess a current Pennsylvania license as a Registered Nurse. Must provide a copy of highest degree earned or a copy of the transcript at time of hire. Must obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI); and CPR for the Healthcare Provider within 3 months of hire. Must complete required departmental competencies to validate competency and maintain competencies – initial competency validation completion within ninety (90) days of start date and then on an annual basis.
Must complete the Pennsylvania Trauma Nurse Course (PTNC) within a year of hire or provide proof of Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC), Advanced Trauma Nurse Course (ATCN) or other approved trauma courses as directed by the guidelines set forth by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation.
