POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assoc. Director of EMS Operations will oversee EMS operations across all Steward hospitals while working in close collaboration with EMS managers and reporting to VP of EMS. Under minimal supervision, leads complex corporate projects as assigned by the VP of EMS. The Assoc. Director of EMS also develops and manages data tools which are integral to mission success and is responsible for using these tools to produce detailed reports that are distributed to Senior and Executive Leadership. The Assoc. Director of EMS is also charged with assisting in the development and implementation of strategies which focus on EMS relationship development and growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, develop and manage strategic initiatives and its implementation across all regions
  • Develop and translate strategic priorities into tactical action items with oversight until execution, in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Provide support to senior level executives to drive strategic initiatives including industry and market research, data analysis, development of proformas, and project management of key strategic initiatives from idea to execution
  • Analyze ROI for strategic programs and lead implementation
  • Work with EMS managers to identify opportunities within and serve as a consultant to strategically tackle issues and develop growth strategies in each market
  • Market intelligence data to create market opportunity and market penetration strategy
  • Extensive data analysis that help drive strategic initiatives and tactical solutions, develop systemwide reports and EMS data warehouse
  • Ability to work with internal and external business intelligence developers to build and manage reporting tools
  • Project management efforts required to plan, monitor, track and manage the people, time and quality of the work related to the implementation of the project as well as the project budget
  • Lead project activities in conjunction with technical managers, users, and management
  • Creates project plans that include the required project components including background, scope, goal, roles & responsibilities, measurable objectives, assumptions, issues, and risk assessment
  • Leads the project team to define the work breakdown structure of the project, task definition, task dependencies, and time estimates
  • Creates Gantt charts to monitor and track tasks and deliverables
  • Effective oral and written communication with all levels of staff (including executives)
  • May be required to travel in conjunction with the assigned project or training
  • Excellent skills in developing strong working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Superior skills in representing Steward Health Care professionally (internally and externally)
  • Track and resolve processing problems, coordinating with all areas
  • Ability to perform system analysis and create business requirements documents
  • Analyze files and do mapping from one system to another
  • Assist in implementing new procedures including workflows, manuals and training as required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of multiple departmental health care areas
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Self-starter and motivated with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time constraints
  • Experience working with cross functional teams while handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to breakdown complex problems into manageable goals
  • Expert group facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams including Senior and Executive Leadership and external partners

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of formal degree
  2. Experience (Type & Length): 8 or more years of direct management experience in a healthcare setting, preferably EMS, leading projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Certification/Licensure: EMT, Paramedic, or RN required, PMP, Lean/Six Sigma desired.
  4. Software/Hardware: Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, QlikView and AOM data reporting tools
  5. Other: Highly organized, analytical and an effective communicator at all levels
