POSITION SUMMARY:

Twenty-four hour accountability for operational issues related to Department of Nursing. Administrative responsibility for departments assigned by the Chief Operating Office/Chief Nursing Officer. Formulates methodology for evaluating and assuring quality of nursing care. Promotes positive working relationship with medical and hospital staff. Assesses and hires personnel. Formulates, reviews and revises policies and procedures. Functions as Administrator on Call and Administrative Supervisor as directed by the COO/CNO. Functions as CNO in CNO’s absence. Represents the Department of Nursing on hospital committees/task forces as assigned by the CNO.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in afriendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.


Additional Information

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

  • Current Florida RN License
  • BSN, Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, leadership and time management skills
  • Minimum five years progressive responsibilities in professional nursing
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise, critical care RN experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
