***Cancer Program Coordinator Per Diem


  • Assures that complete and accurate data is collected and maintained for all cancer patients and diagnosed and/or treated within the institution.
  • Works collaboratively with department, such as Information Management, Information Systems, Surgery, Pathology, Laboratory, and Radiology to ensure complete identification and coverage of patient data sources.
  • Uses documents appropriately, in order to prepare a summary or abstract for each cancer patient.
  • Provides the Tumor Board Committee with follow up information on cancer patients for evaluation of patient care, treatment, survival, and early detection of recurrent disease.
  • Assists in the initiation of Performance Improvement evaluation criteria development, and procedures for data capture, as required by the regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates the overall cancer program activities within the hospital, including preparation of agenda, scheduling meetings, minutes and required follow up.
  • Maintain and update the cancer Registry databases, according to regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of National Cancer Registry.
  • Update Survey Application Record in the Commission on Cancer Website.

  • Is responsible for ongoing development of his/her work skills through the use of available resources (i.e. in-services, formal educational programs, other work groups and on-the-job training).
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services and/or reviews documentation as required.
  • Assists in the orientation of others and actively participates in mentoring.
  • Performs analytical and decision making functions with minimal supervision.
  • Recognizes and seeks assistance/consultation when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of relative Hospital and all-departmental policies and procedures including safety issues.
  • Possesses awareness of programs/services provided by Hospital and where they are located.


Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Health Care field.
  • Knowledge of computer software systems and hospital operating systems.
  • Coordinates with the state and national data bases to ensure case submissions.
  • Must enroll and complete certification in a National Cancer Registry Association accredited program.
    • Commission on Cancer requires all Cancer Registrars be certified by 2015


  • Certified Cancer Registrar with 2-4 years experience.
  • Coordinates with the state and national data bases to ensure case submission.
  • Knowledge of computer software systems and hospital operating systems.
  • Facilitates the Cancer Conferences and Cancer Committee.
  • Familiar with cancer staging protocols.
  • Ensure that all standards from the Commission on Cancer are followed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
