Job Summary: Responsible for accurate and timely posting of all receipts both paper and electronically. Responsible for maintaining cash drawer for petty cash and change. Responsible for balancing daily and for accurate reporting.
Sorts incoming mail and distributes accordingly.
Enters all transactions into the computer system accurately and in a timely manner for all receipts, both paper and electronic.
Utilizes the safe for large bills, and large amounts of money from the cash drawer. Keeps only $400.00 in the drawer at all times.
Provides petty cash, as per policy, to various departments of the hospital, and collects daily revenues from these departments; provides receipts of all transactions.
Provides change of $20.00 or less to patients, visitors and employees.
Collects co-payments from the Admitting Department, Physical Therapy and directly from the patient/family. Posts these payments accurately and timely and provides receipts as needed.
Interacts professionally with all patients/families, visitors and employees.
Prepares the daily bank deposit and has it ready for courier by 2:00 p.m.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with the other hospital departments.
Assumes responsibility for security measures; calls Security when any suspicious person(s) or activities are noticed around the cashier’s office.
Keeps the door locked to the cashier’s office at all times.
Maintains cash posting log for Finance Department.
Scans all payment receipts into appropriate vendor software.
Sorts and batches daily lockbox. Posts accurately and timely.
Balances out daily cash receipts with posting.
Takes credit card payments and processes refunds as necessary.
Possesses training to effectively handle a robbery situation.
Manages and operates all equipment safely and correctly.
Stocks and orders supplies as needed.
Ensures that documentation meets current standards and policies.
Answers the telephone in a polite manner.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer knowledge.
