Clinical Nurse Manager

Position Summary:
Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. In partnership with the Nurse Director, assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing patient care in an assigned area/department to focus on consistent, quality care and improvement of care, safety, and satisfaction. Accountable for healthcare outcomes for a specific group of patients in an area/department through the application of research-based information to design, implement, and evaluate patient plans of care. Supervises the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Patient Care Assistants for their team. Maintains adequate staffing/supplies to provide quality patient care.

Coordinates the flow of patients through the facility. Assigns patients to beds based on bed availability, care needed, and patient type. Arranges for patient transfers or admission as needed. May act as a liaison with scheduling to ensure adequate levels of staff on duty. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty, at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area, and state licensure as a registered nurse (RN). Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

Years of Related Experience

Minimum: 2-4

Preferred: 5-8

Licensure/Certification/Education (Required):

  1. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  2. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  3. Current/Active Florida Registered Nurse License (RN) OR Approved Multi-State License
  4. Education 3: Technical School/2 Years College/Associates Degree
