Director Behavioral Health
Director of the Outpatient Behavioral Health Unit is responsible for planning, organizing, and influencing department activities and the delivery of patient care to all behavioral services including outpatient and inpatient care when needed.
The Director must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the ages of the patients served on their assigned units. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the units policies and procedures and skills check lists.
Must be able to respect diversity of each individual’s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers. The Director helps maintains operations within budgetary parameters. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, physicians, and other health team members while maintaining professional clinical standards. Ensures that care is of the best quality. Also provides direction, supervision, monitoring, and disciplinary action for clinical staff. Maintains and participates in hospital and department performance improvement activities. Other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
Demonstrates integrity and diligence in fulfilling regulatory and legal requirements as set forth in the Corporate Compliance Plan.
Assigns individual, family, and group therapy to clinical staff. Conducts, assess, and interpret completion of psychosocial assessment and initial treatment plan. Reviews all multidisciplinary assessments.
Ensure treatment plan is complete and signed. Performs and/or Coordinates discharge planning activities as necessary
Combine reports of all disciplines into a multidisciplinary treatment plan and document in a timely manner, combine
Addresses and resolves issues or complaints in an objective, professional manner.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patient and family.
Assures confidentiality of hospital and patient records.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to medical providers and staff. Keeps Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services of Medical Center informed of problems or issues within the department and hospital.
Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. Consults with direct supervisor and other hospital management for improved decision making. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
Is responsible for staff scheduling according to departmental standards; assigns personnel and
delegates specific duties as necessary. Communicates job expectations with staff.
Maintains an awareness of the monitoring of staffing productivity standards, the
completion of payroll processes, and daily staffing. Prepares reports and other statistical data as required.
Maintains the availability of supplies, equipment, and the resources necessary for the
successful operation of the department. Coordinates the replacement of supplies or equipment as necessary.
Respects diversity of each individual (patients, visitors, vendors, co-workers).
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
Assists with the development of departmental policies and procedures.
Participates actively in the education of staff.
Contributes to the annual performance evaluation process.
Coordinates the department’s performance improvement activities and Quality improvement program. Provides the staff with timely feedback and submits monthly reports to Administration.
Conducts disciplinary processes of the Outpatient Behavioral Health staff. Provides staff appropriate and timely feedback to correct disciplinary problems or deficiencies in performance. Keeps Supervisor and HR informed of personnel issues or disciplinary problems.
Maintains a fair, sensitive, and impartial approach to dealing with employees.
Provide direct supervision when needed to the Inpatient Clinical Staff.
Provide direct supervision to the Outpatient Behavioral Health Unit staff.
Oversee the audit process of clinical charts and records.
Consistently strives to promote customer service in all aspects of job
Maintains regulatory requirements.
Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of Medical Center.
Attends committee and management meetings as appropriate.
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or other Human Services field. One (1) year experience in Mental Health and Chemical Dependency field. Current LCSW Therapist license in the State of Arizona required.
Language Skills:Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively in English; additional languages helpful. Strong written and verbal skills
