Job Description
Director of Laboratory Services
Your role is to be an effective leader by coaching and developing your staff, collaborating, building teams, solving problems, taking initiative, analyzing, planning, managing change, accepting responsibility, setting and reviewing objectives, exercising control, making decisions, motivating others, supporting employee initiative, and building trust and commitment.
Responsible for Coordinating, planning, and directing all Clinical Laboratory staff, activities, services, and programs within budgetary parameters. Activities included are performance of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests performed in the laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her specific needs, and provides the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures check lists.
- Manages and directs the Department's administrative and financial functions. Prepares and is accountable for Departmental operating budgets and the capital budget.
- Manage laboratory resources, promote teamwork with all healthcare providers and facilitate internal and external customer satisfaction
- Ensure regulatory compliance with CAP, AHCA, TJC, CLIA, CMS and corporate policies and procedures
- Evaluates personnel in accordance with performance standards in histology, biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, serology, cytology and blood bank.
- Addresses complaints regarding laboratory functions and works with supervisors to resolve the complaints.
- Is able to function as a Medical Technologist performing lab tests and quality control as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Must be a Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP). Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in two or more specialties preferred.
- Experience as a Director in a hospital Laboratory is preferred
- Recent managerial experience in the clinical laboratory of an acute care hospital preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages helpful.
- Must have good computer skills with knowledge of various software applications.
