The Clinical Director of ER supports and Assists the CNO in formulating and enforcing policies and standards of care. The Registered Nurse shall be the primary care giver and provider of critical care nursing care in the Emergency Department. The Clinical Director must possess knowledge of techniques and practices required in the delivery of emergency nursing, and interpret patient data and intervene appropriately. The Clinical Director will adhere to accepted standard nursing techniques, practices and procedures in accordance with polices and procedures of CPRMC.

General Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for knowledge of and administration of emergency nursing care as needed.
2. Communicates factually and effectively with physicians and other personnel.
3. Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical or employment status of patient and/or employees of CPRMC and their families.
4. Assists in the preparation of patients for tests and exams.
5. Assists Nurse Manager in meeting department specific goals.
6. Must follow accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.
7. Must participate in all mandatory hospital in-services and/or educational programs.
8. Initiates timely assessments of patients, including clinical presentation and evaluation of response to treatment.
9. Implements or assists with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and administers medications as directed by the physician
in accordance with established standards of care and hospital policy and procedure.
10. Actively participates in departmental and hospital performance improvement program.
11. Accepts organizational accountability for services provided.
12. Provides guidance for and supervision of personnel.
13. Assumes responsibility for staffing and scheduling personnel within the CPRMC Staffing Plan.
14. Accountable n evaluation of nursing personnel.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
1. Minimum of two (2) year of experience in Med-Surg area and/or must show verification of required specialized training in emergency nursing or previous Emergency Department experience.
2. Must have knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in providing nursing patient care services.
3. Successful completion of Medication Administration Exam with a score of 75% or higher.
4. Demonstrates independence in professional development of continuing education.
5. Able to follow directions and to perform work according to departmental standards when no additional directions are given.
6. Must be knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures.
7. Must be familiar with nursing service equipment commonly used.

Licenses/Certificates:
1. Current RN license certified by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
2. Current BLS upon hire, ACLS and PALS Certification or must obtain within 3 months of hire.
3. Additional courses such as CEN, Critical Care, TNCC, and ENPC are also preferred.
