POSITION SUMMARY:

Steward Health Care, the largest private, for-profit hospital operator in the United States, is a physician-led health care services organization committed to providing the highest quality of care in the communities where patients live. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Steward operates 36 community hospitals in the United States, which regularly receive top awards for quality and safety. The company employs 40,000 health care professionals. The Steward network includes more than 25 urgent care centers, 42 preferred skilled nursing facilities, substantial behavioral health services, over 7,300 beds under management, and 1.5 million full risk covered lives through the company's managed care and health insurance services. The total number of paneled lives within Steward's integrated care network was projected to reach 3 million in 2018.

We seek to hire an experienced professional with a proven track-record in data strategy, data analytics, data standardization, data visualization and insights, who can bring experience and sophisticated thinking to the team to build a centralized analytics team at Steward. The Director or Sr. Director of Decision Analytics, under the guidance of VP, Financial Planning and Analysis, will partner with Information Technology and leaders across various businesses/functions to provide them with accurate, automated, real-time and insightful reports. Individual will leverage AI/ML to solve complex problems and uncover opportunities for the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Champion a culture of data-informed, insights-driven decision making that drives business results by leading the company’s decision analytics strategy and initiatives
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of financial and operational metrics, and KPI’s including data related to financial metrics, operating metrics, revenue cycle metrics and quality/clinical metrics
  • Develop and run AI/ML capabilities with a focus on complex systems and predictions
  • Consolidate and standardize data across multiple systems (financial reporting, Electronic Health Records, payroll, external data sources)
  • Manage a team that utilizes innovative tools and technologies to develop and visualize analytics and dashboards that deliver information in an intelligent and digestible manner

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • 10+ years of experience working in data and analytics, data strategy, data science, data visualization, AI/ML and business intelligence
  • 5+ years of experience managing data science, data engineering, AI/ML, and/or analytics teams
  • 5+ years of experience with Python, R programming languages and DB skills (Oracle, SQL as well as unstructured data sources)
  • 3+ years of experience in Data visualization/BI tools like Tableau/Qlik
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and summarize actionable recommendations and their forecasted outcomes/implications
  • Experience deploying and managing AI/ML models into production at scale
  • Health care finance experience a plus, but not required

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or an equivalent field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. Software/Hardware: Strong skills in Python Machine Learning frameworks preferred with web development skills. Expertise in Python, R programming language, relational database, SQL, Tableau and Qlik. Strong proficiency with Excel (financial modeling & data aggregation, lookups, macros); proficiency in PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. Meditech experience preferred.
