Distribution Pharmacist

This is a unique newly created position for a recent pharmacy graduate who wishes to enter pharmacy management.

Carney Hospital in Dorchester is the last neighborhood hospital in Boston. We are dedicated to serving this community with its unique and diverse needs.

We are looking for an entry-level pharmacist to fill a newly formed role intitled Distribution Pharmacist

The ideal candidate will possess

  • Pharm D degree and license to practice in Massachusetts

The candidate should have a strong interest in clinical pharmacy, a dedication to patients, and long-term ambition to become a hospital pharmacy administrator.

This position balances 1/3 clinical pharmacy administration, 1/3 pharmacy buying, and 1/3 pharmacy administrator support and management.

This job is NOT an administrative assistant position. It reports directly to the clinical coordinator and director of pharmacy. This is not a dispensing position, nor will you have order verification responsibilities.

This pharmacist will be expected to own their work, act as a clinical pharmacist, manage the buying and budget, and execute administrative functions independently. They will act as the tech supervisor and have direct reports.

The hours are Monday-Friday unless emergency technician staffing is needed

The pay range is between $43-45.00/hr.

Administrative functions will increase with comfort and proven success. The schedule, buying activities and training/supervisor of technicians will fall directly to this candidate.

Other initiatives may include poster projects to be presented at Midyear, reports, clinical research project, presentations to other departments, supervision of employees, and representing pharmacy at hospital-wide meetings.

We are looking for someone to grow into this role. We are willing and eager to teach the right person who may have no experience with these tasks but is interested in learning each day and from their colleagues. We sincerely hope that this position can begin teaching the next generation of pharmacy administrators.

We expect a two-year commitment and for this pharmacist to then use this experience to further enhance their own career and the pharmacy community.
