Position Summary:
Assists Emergency Department nurses with the comfort and care of the ED patients. Greets patients upon arrival to the department and facilitates throughput in triage as directed by the triaging RN. Meets with patients as needed to resolve complaints. Provides back up to unit secretary as needed. The ER tech may obtain IV access collect lab specimens and perform EKG’s as required. Other duties as assigned.

Licensure/Certification/Education (Required):
List any license, certification or education required for this job (e.g. driver's license, RN License, HHA Certification, Master's Degree, etc.)
  1. American Red Cross OR American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR (BLS)
  2. Education 1: High School Graduate/Equivalent
  3. COAP - Care of the Aggressive Patient (Within 90 Days of Hire)
  4. Current/Active Florida Emergency Medical Technician License (EMT)
Licensure/Certification/Education (Preferred):
List any license, certification or education preferred for this job (e.g. driver's license, RN License, HHA Certification, Master's Degree, etc.)
  1. Education 2: Technical School/1 Year College
Specialized Skills (Required):
List the minimum specific knowledge and skills necessary to perform this job (e.g., homecare exp., med/surg exp., basic accounting principles/practices, spreadsheets, word processing, etc.)
  1. Ability to assist patients with basic ADLs (feeding, bathing, toileting)
  2. Communication skills
