Develop tools, theories, skills and knowledge to advance the practice of nursing and nurses within Nursing Professional Development. Conducts and coordinates in-service and formal education programs spanning multiple departments to enhance the skills of the Nursing Services Staff and Assigned Unit Patient Care Employees. Conducts competency assessment activities for assigned areas and Nursing Service Staff. Supports the training and development of the Nursing Services staff at SJMC and serves as education consultant for the Ancillary Services in SJMC. Provides leadership in the work setting by serving in a variety of roles to support organizational goals. Ensures the standards of Continuing Nursing Education Accredited Provider Unit.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse accepted by Texas State Board of Nursing to engage in professional nursing
  • Five or more years of practice experience in a healthcare setting
  • 2 years experience with program development, group presentations, and project management Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Must complete in 2 years if not held at the time of appointment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing procedures, processes, and acute care organizations
  • Technical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to area in order to effectively and work collaboratively with the leadership team and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, in order to independently carry out the duties of the position. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required
  • Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy
  • Strong clinical, teaching, oral communication and education skills Adept using Microsoft Office, online applications
