POSITION SUMMARY:

Knowledge of physiological, psychosocial, and therapeutic components specific to the appropriate triage, and prioritizing of patients with real or potential life threatening conditions, presenting to the emergency department of care. Complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital, collaborating with the nursing and medical staff when performing techniques for the comfort and well being of the patient. Responsible for organized, systematic reception and of patients, ensuring that immediate care is available for the seriously ill or injured patient. Determines priorities confidently and directs patient flow in a stressful fast paced environment, while maintaining composure and courtesy to patients and families.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

An active EMT-P license

Current BLS Certification

One year experience as an Emergency Room Technician or EMT-P preferred

Ability to communicate in English

Able to function calmly in a fast paced, stressful environment

Ability to communicate with patients diagnosed with psychiatric disorders

Basic Computer skills required

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
