Description

The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for family practice patients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).

Key Responsibilities

  • Functions independently to Assess patients at an advanced level, identifying health status including abnormal conditions, establish a diagnosis, develop and implements treatment plans and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities, as permitted under Utah law, in accordance with written protocols
  • treat minor injuries, by suturing, splinting, and casting.
  • Use advanced knowledge and skills in teaching and guiding clients and other health team members.
  • Use critical thinking and decision-making, commensurate with the autonomy, authority and responsibility of NP licensure.
  • Plan for situations beyond expertise, and collaborating with other healthcare providers, and makr appropriate referrals.
  • Retains professional responsibility for advanced practice nursing care when delegating interventions, Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills in the Advance Practice Registered Nurse/Physician Assistant Practitioner field.
  • Manages the care of and gives direct patient care according to established protocols/guidelines.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Nursing or other education and experience allowing licensure by the Utah State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
  • National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Eligible for Certificate of Prescriptive Authority.
  • Eligible for DEA registration.
  • 3 years experience working as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • COVID 19 vaccination or valid exemption
