POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables and dissembles stations at the conclusion of meal periods. Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and other equipment. Serves customers directly, assists with opening containers. Prepares, portions, and labels food components in accordance to par levels and patient/customer orders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares, portions, and plates sandwiches, salads, fruits, desserts and other cold food production items in accordance to recipes and production records within appropriate service times.
  • Bakes cookies, pies and other desserts. Portions, dates, and stocks these and other desserts as assigned
  • Adheres to HACCP regulations and guidelines {basic FIFO (First In First Out); Time & Temperature concepts}
  • Always maintains a pleasant, helpful, and respectful attitude toward patients, co-workers, managers, and visitors
  • Adheres to and actively participates in the safety and sanitation of the department
  • Appropriately and adequately cleans and preps fruits and vegetables for public consumption. Prepares, cuts, slices, chops fruits and vegetables for the salad bar and sandwiches
  • Slices deli meats, cheeses etc for salads and sandwiches.
  • Sets up service stations in patient services and café with appropriate serving utensils, components and condiments in accordance to production records
  • Maintain all HACCP regulations and guidelines in accordance to scheduled area of responsibility
  • Serves cafeteria customers according to their specific order in a pleasant manner
  • Serves as a second cashier during busy periods
  • Will provide break coverage and assist with prep of Grill Station during busy periods.**
  • Serve Host/Hostess food components in accordance to patient specification
  • Cleans, sanitizes assigned work station including counters, steam tables and other equipment after use.**
  • Restock areas as required using FIFO method.
  • Assists in dish room with side assignments i.e. wrap silverware, organize patient service needs/requirements (trays, plates, pellets, domes, etc). Collects and strips patient and café trays.
  • Assemble and deliver patient requests and late trays as deemed necessary. Accurately serves food and beverages to patients in accordance to the patient’s diet prescription and allergies
  • Answers phone calls in a respectful and professional manner
  • Records temperatures of meal and serves hot food on the tray-line and in cafe
  • Consistently maintains a clean, well groomed appearance and follows department policy for uniforms
  • Responds to others in a flexible, helpful manner especially in times of increased activity, staff shortages or shifting priorities. Engage in teamwork.
  • Prepares, sets up, and delivers catering events per department standard as assigned.
  • Verbally communicates concerns with either Patient Services Manager, Retail Manager, or Executive Chef
  • Follows FIFO (first in, first out) method when stocking both within the department as well as patient kitchenettes
  • Responds to others in a flexible, helpful manner especially in times of increased activity, staff shortages or shifting priorities. Engage in teamwork.
  • Keep with in the established time lines of the department.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and adopts a “clean as you go” philosophy
  • Answers phone calls in a respectful and professional manner
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks with in a specific time period and adapt to a fast pace environment
  • Exercise good judgment and takes initiative to complete tasks
  • Ability to read, write and speak and communicate in English. Strong communication skills required. Must be a team player. Must be able to lift and push fifty (50) pounds. Able to work independently and communicate well across disciplines.
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Basic knife skills (dicing, cutting, slicing)
  • Ability to engage in 2 way courteous, respectful communication with patients, visitors, staff and managers

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:
