Job Summary: HIM Processing Associate - Birth Certificate Registrar
Schedule: FT/Days 40 hours Mon.-Fri. 8am-4:30pm
Full-Time Birth Certificate Registrar
Identifies and generates reports for all patients having delivered newborns.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of MA State rules and regulations governing the preparation of birth certificates and paternity acknowledgments.
Explains complex rules and regulations governing birth certificates to patients.
These rules are set by the Department of Vital Records and statistic may include paternity acknowledgments, affidavits of non-paternity and federal documents.
Acts as a Notary Public witnessing signatures and certifying legal documents.
Must be detail oriented, have excellent judgment and prioritization skills in order to meet state reporting deadlines.
Ability to collaborate with Nursing and Medical Staff.
Must possess excellent communication skills and show empathy when appropriate.
- High School Diploma required
- Strong computer, written and oral communication skills required
- Previous hospital medical record experience preferred with emphasis on discharge analysis
- Knowledge of documentation requirements, release of information, and physician suspension process
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to work in fast paced, productivity oriented environment required.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills required.
