Under the general direction of the Director of Health Information Management, the HIM Specialist I is responsible for preparing batches of discharged documents according to department procedure, scanning patient records and loose documents into the document capture system with the highest level of quality possible, routing batches correctly and timely maintaining appropriate workflow, maintaining and meeting or exceeding established productivity standards, maintaining good forms control practices, and performing a variety of other tasks in the department as necessary.


  1. High School graduate or equivalent required. Further education in the healthcare field preferred.
  2. At least three years experience working with health records in an acute care hospital; medical record department preferred.
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems required.
