House Supervisor - Registered Nurse

Maintains oversight responsibilities for all activities throughout the hospital in the absence of department managers and the administrative team to assure that services are provided in a safe, effective, and efficient manner as appropriate for the various age groups. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in policies and procedures and skills check lists. Must be able to respect diversity of each individuals values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers.

The House Supervisor must maintain a high level of clinical expertise in order to provide assistance to various units and act as a resource. Serves as a spoke person to the media if necessary. Meets regularly with administrative teams to assure adequate communication and to initiate problem-solving procedures. Effectively interact with patients, significant others, physicians, and other health team members while maintaining professional nursing standards. Ensures that care is of the best quality, is cost contained, and is carried out in an expeditious manner. Consults with staff, physicians and Chief Clinical Officer on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintains and participates in hospital performance improvement activities. Gathers and provides staffing information and facilitates the proper placement of float staff based on skill level and experience. Ensures float staff is compliant with certifications and training required of positions. Is responsible for assisting the CNO in development and leadership of Float Pool Staff. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Utah State RN license
  • Current BLS (CPR) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider.
  • 5 years clinical nursing experience.
  • Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively in English, additional languages helpful. Strong written and verbal skills required.

Preferences:

  • Computer skills with knowledge of various software applications also preferred.
