Human Resources Manager:

In conjunction with the HR Director the Manager of Human Resources is accountable for the administration and communication of human resources programs and serving as a resource to the organization on issues related to compensation, employee benefits, recruitment and retention, employee relations, etc. The Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and influencing department activities, while maintaining operations within established budgetary parameters. Determines work procedures and expedites workflow. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Effectively interacts with administration, managers, and staff while maintaining professional standards. Keeps hospital administration and HR Director informed about hospital morale and areas of concern.

Demonstrates the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for specific age groups served. Must be able to respect diversity of each individual’s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers. The Manager is a member of the organizations Administrative Council and participates in performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities

Responsible for planning and budgeting all department activities. Is responsible for orientation and education of department staff, providing role clarification and completing performance evaluations when due.

Works with the HR Director to maintain, development and the administration of Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

Assists in the development of and administers all employee benefits programs and develops and implements related policies and procedures in compliance with all pertinent state, federal, and local statutes and regulations, plan documents, administrative agreements, and according to the highest fiduciary standards.

Accountable for communicating all existing, new and/or changed benefits programs to all employees, educating employees on benefits, and developing written communication materials as necessary.

Manages and coordinates the hospital's New Employee Orientation Programs, ensuring that each new employee receives complete and accurate information related to hospital policy and procedure and DNV requirements.

Responsible for employee relations services to promote and develop a fair, responsive, and effective organizational climate and to avoid costly litigation.

Treats all employees, co-workers, and subordinates in a fair and equitable manner while supporting the mission and vision of the hospital. Is able to maintain a balanced prospective on a variety of human resources issues.

Provides quality compensation advice and support to management and employees and suggests ways to keep human resource programs competitive with other local hospitals in order to recruit and retain qualified employees.

Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field, or at least 6 years previous high-level experience in Human Resources required.
  • Experience in the development and administration of benefits, compensation, and employee relations programs.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of state and federal employment regulations.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages are helpful.
  • Must be proficient with computer systems and various software applications. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills.
