Responsible to VTrumbull Regional Medical Center for supporting the corporate mission, vision and values. Responsible to the Facilities Engineering Department for providing a physical environment that will enhance the hospital's ability to provide efficient, effective and safe patient care achieved by the maintenance or repair of heating, ventilating or air conditioning systems and equipment. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES
- Maintains air conditioning equipment.
- Maintains refrigeration cycle equipment.
- Maintains heating and cooling control systems.
- Performs air flow measurements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a college or technical training program in HVAC. Requires up to ten year’s experience or is an experienced journeyman on this or related jobs in a healthcare or commercial facility. Experience in digital and pneumatic controls and trouble shooting required.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION
Certification in Refrigerant Transition and Recovery by US EPA required.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Ability to define complicated physical or technical relationships. (Examples: operation of electric motors, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, steam pressures, etc.)

All HVAC work relating to troubleshooting, diagnostic, load balancing and set points, charging and discharging of refrigerant gasses and new installations shall be performed by qualified HVAC technicians.
