Job Description
Dual Modality: IR Tech /Cath Lab for experience techs
On-Call Hours, Weekends, and after-hours support. Dual Modality is defined by these departments: must be able to work in both the Interventional Radiology and Cath Lab Departments interchangeably as required by departmental needs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
IR Tech: The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing all diagnostic radiographic procedures including OR and portable exams, at a high quality level. Must have knowledge of all radiographic procedures, protocols and equipment used in obtaining radiographic images. Ability to work extended periods standing. Reports and communicates to Supervisor of Imaging. Medical decisions are directed from the Radiologists. Trained for and skilled to perform exams on patients of all ages. Able to assist patients on and off stretchers and wheelchairs. Access and utilize the hospital and radiology information systems including PACS. Schedule flexibility with the possibility of being on-call.
Cath Lab: Scrubs in for and monitors diagnostic and interventional procedures, electrophysiological studies, pacemaker insertions, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps and Structure Heart procedures. Sets up and breaks down equipment. Performs hemodynamic calculations for patient reports. Trained in treating patients with adult cardiac diseases. Preceptor role in training newly hired non-experience techs.
Position Qualification:
- Graduate of a Certified Cardiovascular technologist program or equivalent.
- Training in AMA approved school and meets requirements for registry by the ARRT
- Computer skills with knowledge of HIS, RIS and PACS systems.
- Successful completion of the RCIS and Basic Science exams.
- Two years Interventional Lab experience required.
- Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition
- Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, stressful environment.
- Schedule flexibility with the possibility of being on-call.
- Must be self motivated once job skills are learned and is able to work with minimal supervision.
- Previous hospital experience preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- RCIS required.
- A.R.R.T.(R) Certified
- Hold current BLS and ACLS card from the American Heart Association
Communication Skills:
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization
