Lead CSST, 40 HRs/Week, Night Shift (11:00PM to 7:30AM)Weekends Required, On Call Required, Holidays Required
I. Position Function:
To act as resource to the Central Service Technicians in addition to performing all other duties of a central processing technician (receive, clean, decontaminate, process, assemble, sterilize, store and deliver surgical and other instruments and supplies).
II. Job Relationships:
Reports to CPD Supervisor.
Guides and advises other CPD Techs.
Collaborates with Operating Room Nurses, Distribution Aides and clinical departments.
III. Authority:
Authority to act on the departments behalf in the absence of the CPD Supervisor.
Authority to communicate oral corrections and recommendations in order to improve technique.
IV. A. Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
1.) "Provides superior customer service to internal and external clients, customers,
and patients as referenced in the Service Excellence Standards."
Makes certain that daily routines are fulfilled.
Acts as a immediate resource for Central Service Technicians.
Keeps supervisor aware of problem areas and makes recommendations.
Provides some in-servicing training programs for technicians.
Performs random sport checks of prepared instrument trays to assure proper procedures have been adhered to.
Performs all duties of a Tech which are as follows:
- Receive, clean, and decontaminate surgical instruments, medical supplies, and other
related supplies and equipment according to established procedures.
- Inspect, assemble, wrap or containerize, sterilize, store, and distribute the above to user
departments.
Operate according to manufactures recommendations and safety guidelines all departmental equipment including, but not limited to:
- Cart Washer/Steam Gun
- Washer/Sterilizer
- Gas Sterilizer
- Aeration Chamber
- Heat Sealer
- Ultrasonic Cleaner
Keep abreast of the latest infection control and central service techniques.
Attendance at departmental in-service programs is mandatory.
Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment.
Communicate any deviations in procedure to the CPD Supervisor.
Respond to customer requests; inform Lead Tech and/or Supervisor of any deviations in procedure or shortage of proper equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
B. Responsibilities/Non-Essential Functions:

Produces daily shift report for CPD Supervisor.
Performs Quality Assurance rounds in the OR.
Reports all variances from standards to CPD Supervisor.
VI. Accountability:
Accountable for prioritizing work load to ensure efficient OR schedule.
Accountable for responding to concerns/questions.
Accountable for adherence to established policies and procedures.
VII. Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience as a Central Service Technician.
Preferably some Lead experience (supervisory).
Minimum skills/abilities:
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Attention to fine detail.
Ability to identify and solve problems quickly as they arise.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
Certification/Licensure:
CRCST certification required.
Training:
OR medical instrumentation, sterility technique, infection control, CDC policies and procedures, and universal precautions.
Customer service and CQI principles.
