Medical Assistant needed for a busy Physician practice.
Full time 40 Hours Per Week
Shift: 8:30 am to 5::00 pm
Weekends As Needed \ Holidays Required
Works in conjunction with providers in assessment of patients. Respects each patient as an individual; provides care that fosters the patient's sense of dignity and positive self-regard. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines. Working with providers utilizes knowledge and judgment in patient assessment and reporting subjective and objective data in conjunction with obtaining an accurate history, list of current medications and obtaining vital signs. Maintains patient records and other information according to established office policies and procedures. Prepares patient for examination and treatment, assists in special procedures and functions as a chaperone as requested. Proactively identifies risk to patient's safety and identifies opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors (i.e. appropriate reporting of errors/incidents). Identifies ethical issues in care and reports them to provider. Reports abnormal findings to provider. Demonstrates judicious and conscientious us of medical supplies. Triages telephone calls according to established protocol. Requests, schedules, or completes diagnostic tests ordered by the provider. Completes necessary forms and explains testing procedures to patients
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
Two to three years progressively responsible for clinical and clerical experience in a health care environment.
Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
Organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and the ability to function, multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, high volume office setting.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and medical and/or clinical office procedures in an automated environment.
Flexibility and strong ability to immediately adapt to changing office needs is critical to this position.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Exerts negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; at least 20 pounds of force frequently. Ability to move heavy patients with assistance will be required. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands). Occasionally stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist), and kneels (bending the legs at the knee to come to rest on knee or knees).
