***Medical Staff Credentials Coordinator 40hrs/Days

POSITION SUMMARY:

Actively participates in the development, coordination, evaluation and execution all aspects of the credentialing, privileging and provider appointment procedures as they relate to medical staff, allied health providers, and other licensed independent practitioners. Ensures consistent compliance with The Joint Commission Standards, Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine Regulations, National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) standards, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards, other applicable standards and regulations, Medical Staff Bylaws and Morton Hospital and Medical Center policies and procedures. Can be relied upon to achieve excellent results with minimal oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures full compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, bylaws, rules and regulations, accreditation standards and regulations for the processing of applications for initial credentialing and re-credentialing.
  • Ensures all applications and requests for privileges are processed according to regulations and policies.
  • Ensures the seamless and timely flow of credentials information in order to meet appointment and reappointment deadlines.
  • Prepares materials for Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees regarding medical staff appointments. Responsible for completing clear, accurate Credentials Committee minutes.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations and accreditation standards

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Is responsible for ongoing development of his/her work skills through the use of available resources (i.e.: in-services, formal educational programs, other work groups and on-the-job training).
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services and/or reviews documentation as required.
  • Assists in the orientation of others and actively participates in mentoring.
  • Performs analytical and decision making functions with minimal supervision.
  • Recognizes and seeks assistance/consultation when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of relative Hospital and all-departmental policies and procedures including safety issues.
  • Possesses awareness of programs/services provided by Hospital and where they are located.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

Required:

  • High school diploma, GED or the equivalent in related work experience required.
  • Must be professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious and results-oriented individual. Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and able to adapt to changing priorities and display good, sound judgment with a sense of humor.
  • Superb organizational skills. Must have solid analytical skills. Must be creative and proactive yet disciplined, discriminating and able to streamline work volume in order to maintain bottom line efforts in midst of multi-tasking and daily re-prioritizing. Must have ability to innovate, think strategically and conceptually, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle even difficult situations.
  • Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and editing skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree in business, health care administration or related program.
  • Prior experience working in a medical staffing office preferred.
