Position Summary:

Provides accurate diagnostic and therapeutic test results to the responsible health care provider with minimal supervision.

***Must have FL Medical Technologist Licensure***

Utilizes quality control for decision making on a routine basis to establish standards. Communicates critical values in accordance with departmental policy. Recognizes abnormal results and takes appropriate action in accordance with departmental policy. Accurately performs STAT and routine orders within established time limits. Consistently demonstrates team work. Recognizes problems and takes appropriate action. Prioritizes workload based on volume. Adequately collects and/or processes specimens. Monitors inventory levels and follows appropriate protocol for re-ordering supplies. Safely performs all routine maintenance procedures. Performs and evaluates instrument functions. Recognizes malfunctions and implements corrective actions. Consistently completes documentation of maintenance procedures and/or instrument malfunctions notifies appropriate personnel. Communicates instrumentation status to appropriate personnel including oncoming shift. Demonstrates ability to adequately use departmental down time procedure. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of appropriate functions. Maintains system security. Recognizes specific problems and takes appropriate corrective action in accordance with departmental policy. Reviews appropriate specimen logs to confirm completion of work and resolve outstanding tests. Demonstrates a broad knowledge/competency of all areas pertaining to the assigned section. Has a theoretical understanding of the technical and procedural aspects of laboratory tests.

Qualifications:

Years of Related Experience

  • Minimum: 1-2
  • Preferred: 2-4

Licensure/Certification/Education (Required):

  • Current/Active Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (TN)
  • Education 3: Technical School/2 Years College/Associates Degree
