Collects blood from patients; checks quality of blood/specimens; assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of the patient following established standards and practices. Performs clerical functions including charting of lab results. Performs laboratory technical procedures according to established and approved protocols requiring a broad exercise independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Functions as an educator / trainer within a medical laboratory setting. Perform laboratory procedures across the major areas of the laboratory such as immunology, transfusion service, chemistry, hematology, serology or microbiology. Responsible for specified computer and department maintenance as required.
ASCP/NCA/AMT certified preferred.
