Examines heartbeat patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in heartbeat. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Requires Basic Dysrhythmia Certification, and BLS. May require an associates degree or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Qualifications:
Years of Related Experience
- Minimum: 0-1 years
- Preferred: 2-4 years
Licensure / Certification / Education (Required):
- Education: High School Graduate/Equivalent
- EKG Interpretation/Dysrhythmia Course (within 90 days of hire date)
Licensure / Certification /Education (Preferred):
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Education: Technical School/1 Year College
Specialized Skills (Required):
- Basic Computer skills
- Basic Dysrhythmia Class
- Experience as a secretary in the health care field or formal secretary course
Specialized Skills (Preferred):
- Medical Terminology Class
- Experience in Cardiac Rhythm interpretation
