Position Summary

Specifically trained to perform, document and report results from non-invasive vascular diagnostic procedures. To maintain optimum standards of safety care during all procedures. Problem solving skills, ability to work independently and good interpersonal skills are mandatory for relating with patients, physicians and co-workers. The technologist should also be able to recognize when the patient’s disease state is out of the realm of their experience level and defer to the technical or medical directors for assistance. Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assumes supervisory responsibility for general daily operation of the NIVL.
  • Implements employee work schedule.
  • Records and monitors departmental Quality Assurance.
  • Monitors & documents all performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures that the staff is notified in advance regarding shift schedules, vacation time and scheduled days off.
  • Ensures that all shifts are adequately staffed on a daily basis.
  • Assures that the department has adequate supplies with minimal overage.
  • Prepares patient records and equipment for testing.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation of vascular testing.
  • Performs brief physical exam of each patient prior to testing.
  • Explains the procedure to be performed prior to testing.
  • Selects appropriate equipment technical factors and imaging mode for each test performed.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality and obtains hardcopy black/white, color images and video recordings according to lab protocol.
  • Documents and distributes preliminary readings according to laboratory protocol.
  • Maintains patient care at height of excellence.
  • Performs equipment calibration and adjustments.
  • Monitors equipment and assists with coordinating repairs and replacements, as needed.
  • Demonstrates safe and effective use of equipment.
  • Maintain records and logs appropriate for the laboratory.

  • Cleans and maintains laboratory environment and equipment per department standards.
  • Collaborates with Technical Supervisor and Medical Director in continuous
  • Quality Management activities and monitors.
  • Assists with orientation of new employees within the Vascular Laboratory.
  • Participates in continuing education programs to maintain professional education.
  • Participates in obtaining and maintaining lab accreditation.
  • Maintains BLS certification.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed and demonstrates
  • Flexibility in response to reassignments.
  • Demonstrates safe and effective use of equipment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in an active, Non-invasive Vascular Laboratory.
  • RVT or CCI Certification required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and MS Office Software
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
