Advanced level surgical scrub role for certified/non-certified trained operating room technician/specialty team lead. Provides oversight within designated specialty, acting as educational and clinical resource to the surgical services staff. Assists surgeons with a variety of surgical procedures and complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital. Provides clinical and administrative supervision of designated specialty, acting as clinical and educational resource to the nursing staff. Analyzes and reduce supply cost. Responsible for maintaining preference maps and collaborating with surgeons, nurses, technicians, materials management, venders and OR staff to ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available. Evaluates new products. Ability to anticipate and plan. Must have the clinical ability and knowledge to offer relief to team members if necessary. Provides supervision of activities to assure quality care, smooth patient flow and efficient turnover. Must have flexible hours and days to accommodate high volume orthopedic surgical days and be on call nights, weekends and holidays. Knowledge of adherence of monitoring and compliance of all regulatory and licensing agencies including but not limited to JCAHO, OSHA, AHCA, CMS, etc

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

Graduate of a surgical technology program

Minimum of three (3) years OR experience preferred

Current BLS Certification

Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language

Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assist with varied operative procedures and surgeon’s verbal directives

Ability to perform effectively in fast paced, stressful environment

Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
