POSITION SUMMARY: |
Develops, implements, and maintains control of supplies and equipment. Communicates effectively with all levels of personnel both in the Operating Room and other departments within the hospital. |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: |
1.1 Works in conjunction with Central Purchasing to create par levels to meet the needs of the Operating Room. 1.2 Monitors par levels in the Operating Room to keep inventory moving. 1.3 Monitors inventory controls to maximize cost effectiveness. 1.4 Meets with vendors to maintain good quality and pricing of supplies for the Operating Room and to keep up with new products, and upgrades. 1.5 Works with Central Purchasing to create new Meditech #s for new items
3.1 Communicates with Clinical Director, discussing daily issues, problems, reports, new products, in-services. 3.2 Communicates with charge nurses continually to discuss new products, product evaluations, maintenance of equipment and supplies for each service. 3.3 Communicates with secretary’s changes and additions in computer, scheduling anything pertinent to Hospital-wide Standards, Infection Control, Fire/Safety, MSDS. 3.4 Communicates with surgeons any special requests or emergency equipment needs for cases.
4.1 Collaborates with Biomedical Engineering and or Maintenance Department to establish, evaluate and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment in the Operating Room. 4.2 Collaborates with General Services to establish systems for processing and controlling uniforms and linen. 4.3 Collaborates with Materials Management to maintain par levels and communicates any changes in products, product recalls and annual surveys, etc. 4.4 Collaborates with Housekeeping to maintain proper cleaning equipment and supplies. 4.5 Collaborates with Sterile Processing to maintain sufficient amount of instruments, orders and follows-up on equipment/instrument repairs and trouble shoots any problems. 4.6 Collaborates with Data Processing to maintain computer hardware/software.
5.1 Does daily and monthly stats. 5.2 Provides Purchasing Manager with statistics. 5.3 Trouble shoots any problems with the computer. 5.4 Provides other departments with monthly stats or any other stats needed. 5.5 Creates reports needed to monitor expenses and efficiency.
6.0 Demonstrates ability to provide resources to meet the needs of the Operating Room.
6.1 Provides necessary equipment for booked cases. 6.2 Provides emergency service for surgeons regarding equipment. 6.3 Communicates with vendors for emergency equipment needs.
7.0 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
7.1 Attends annual Infection Control, hazardous Waste, Fire/Safety classes. 7.2 Participates in at least one department or hospital committee or performance improvement task force (i.e. OR Enterprise Committee and Value Analysis). 7.3 Attends computer conferences. 7.4 Attends monthly in-service.
8.1 Ensures documentation of preventive maintenance agreements and Biomed check. 8.2 Collaborates with both Purchasing Manager and Clinical Director on budget, keeping within the guidelines of the Operating Room.
