JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, performs all maintenance jobs related to the repair of sheetrock, masonry, tile and the painting of all needed surfaces. Tapes, floats and prepares sheetrock for painting. Refinishes wood and metal furniture, cabinets, lockers and any other related equipment. Hangs and repairs vinyl wall covering. Maintains a clean and neat work area while always observing the rules of safety. Assumes full responsibility for the shop’s equipment, inventory and the cleanliness of the shop.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Approximately one to two years related work experience necessary in order to perform duties in a professional manner under general supervision.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Knowledge of painting techniques, uses of paints (i.e., oils, bases and the like) as well as basic masonry and paper hanging techniques as normally acquired through completion of vocational high school.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to fifty percent of work time when preparing surfaces for painting and mixing paints.
  • Ability to stand for approximately sixty percent of work time and to lift, push and otherwise move furniture weighing up to thirty pounds for approximately thirty percent of work time.
