Provides leadership and managerial support for all functions and areas within Patient Access. These functions include

pre-registration, registration, residual collections, bed placement, insurance eligibility/benefits verification, pre

authorization, community wide scheduling, and financial counseling.

Establishes, maintains, and enforces all departmental policies while, at the same time, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation agencies.

Ensures the smooth and productive operations of a 24x7 department.

Works closely with managers, supervisors, and team leaders to understand and resolve problems.

Acts as a liaison to the IS department, Medical Records, Patient Financial Services and other ancillary departments regarding departmental changes and issues.

Interacts with departments and physicians' offices to understand the processes and services they provide, as well as the needs of those internal customers.

Will consistently have a clear understanding of clinical/financial process relationships.

Handles all employment and employee relations issues including, but not limited to: recommendation for hire, termination, promotion and discipline.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree is preferred. An Associate's degree will be considered with considerable healthcare experience.

Experience:

A minimum of five years in a healthcare environment, preferably an acute care setting, is required. Three to five years of supervisory experience preferred. Advanced knowledge of 3" party payer requirements and managed care required.
