***Perioperative Materials Manager 40hrs/Days

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Perioperative Materials Manager is primarily responsible for the daily oversight and procurement of all supplies and materials required and/or stored for perioperative activities in the hospital. This includes maintaining the hospital’s electronic inventory management platform for data integrity, spend and value analysis, contract compliance, and alternate product sourcing. The position reports to the Director of Materials Management. This position works closely with the Perioperative leadership & providers to communicate requests for new procedures and ensures patient charges are entered correctly. The position is the primary contact for all perioperative outside vendors and also supervises the Perioperative Materials Clerk.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains par levels and manages supplies of standard stocked inventory supplies used in the operating room.
  • Procures non-stock supplies as needed based on procedure requirements in the operating room.
  • Distributes products to operating room staff as required for each procedure.
  • Drives cost savings and efficiency by ordering supplies in an effective manner. Evaluates substitute items when appropriate with a focus on using contracted products.
  • Establishes a strong relationship with clinical perioperative leadership and physician partners to assist in product selection, procurement, standardization, & evaluation.
  • Ensures all products are contracted for use by Steward corporate.
  • Maintains accurate consignment inventories and records. Coordinates respectively with consignment vendors.
  • Communicates supply issues with pertinent staff and escalates those issues as needed to Materials Management.
  • Communicates effectively with Receiving and Storeroom staff with respect to equipment and supply delivery and receipt.
  • Ensures that charges for billable supplies are properly documented and processed with accurate patient charges.
  • Works with Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Coding Departments to reconcile, review, and ensure the completion of Surgical Biller Desktop charge entries.
  • Researches, identifies, and applies supporting documentation to complete accounts with missing information.
  • Assists Materials Management with resolution of invoicing issues related to operating room supplies and equipment, including correcting Meditech dictionary items to assure accuracy of both expense and revenue billing.
  • Maintains inventory of operating room equipment, including contract, repair, and preventive maintenance history.
  • Coordinates with Biomedical Engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturers for repair of broken equipment & coordinates with vendors when loaners are necessary
  • Participates with Materials Management & Operating Room leadership in the capital planning process for OR equipment.
  • Coordinates annual inventory of OR supplies.
  • Supervises Perioperative Materials Aide

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to work independently and proactively with a positive and courteous attitude.

  • Ability to work with numbers…calculating usage, forecasting & analyzing data
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff across many levels of organizational infrastructure, from front line to Senior Leadership.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

  1. Education: Diploma or GED. Associates Degree Preferred.
  2. Experience (Type & Length): Five years experience in inventory management. Hospital experience preferred
  3. Certification/Licensure: N/A
  4. Software/Hardware: MS Office, Meditech experience preferred.
