Responsible to Laboratory Services for supporting the Laboratory philosophy and providing high quality, cost-effective comprehensive patient care. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.


High school graduate or GED with related experience or training in medical assistant or phlebotomy.

Phlebotomist certification is required.

BLS certification required and maintained or obtained within 30-days of original job date.


  1. Performs all skills on Patient Care Technician Equipment/Skills Checklist.
  2. Collects specimens and performs EKG’s
  3. Performs and/or assists with treatments/procedures
  4. Assists patients with activities of daily living
  5. Documents care provided according to charting guidelines
  6. Performs procedures related to phlebotomy at a proficient level.
  7. Collects, transports, stores and/or dispose of refuse related materials safely as outlined in the Procedure Manual and by following EPA/OSHA guidelines and/or regulations.
  8. Performs high quality, cost effective phlebotomy duties independently.
  9. Performs EKG tracings at a proficient level.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Any COVID-19 related care takes place in designated areas away from other patients and their families. Emergency Departments are reorganized to be a safe place to treat all emergency patients. A stringent cleaning policy has been implemented throughout the hospital. A strictly controlled visitor and masking policy is required for patient safety. You can rest assured that we have made the necessary preparations to provide care in a safe, controlled and professional way.

This position is subject to the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for Steward Health Care Workforce. Employees in this position will be required to provide adequate proof of vaccination for COVID-19 by an FDA-approved vaccine prior to starting work. Steward will consider requests for exemptions from this vaccine requirement on the basis of medical condition or sincerely held religious belief in accordance with applicable Federal laws.
