Job Summary

  • Communicates instrumentation status to appropriate personnel including oncoming shift
  • Consistently completes documentation of maintenance procedures and/or instrument malfunctions notifies appropriate personnel
  • Monitors inventory levels and follows appropriate protocol for re-ordering supplies
  • Performs and evaluates instrument functions
  • Recognizes malfunctions and implements corrective actions
  • Safely performs all routine maintenance procedures
  • Demonstrates ability to adequately use departmental down time procedure
  • Demonstrates adequate knowledge of appropriate functions
  • Maintains system security
  • Recognizes specific problems and takes appropriate corrective action in accordance with departmental policy
  • Reviews appropriate specimen logs to confirm completion of work and resolve outstanding tests
  • Creates test data for new tests and/or test enhancements and follows appropriate channels for approval
  • Maintains established departmental policies, procedures,objectives, quality assurance and safety in the creation or enhancement of test development
  • Thoughly tests all new creation and/or enhancements notifying effected users will in advance.

Responsible for supervision and establishment of complex and routine laboratory analyses in a laboratory section. Solves specific section problems by identifying the cause, determining and implementing solutions. Responsible for ensuring the quality of results produces. Schedules staff, orders supplies, and administers all aspects of assigned section. Responsible for keeping lab compliant for Joint Commission and CAP requirements. Responsible for creating, modifying and reviewing procedures. Responsible for performing all QC/QA procedures, corrective action and documenting accordingly. Manages all Laboratory Proficiency Programs as part of Laboratory Compliance. Assists in the installation of new lab equipment.
