As the Quality / Risk Management Coordinator, this staff member performs the following duties:

A. QUALITY MANAGEMENT:
1. Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the hospital’s overall performance improvement program. This includes but is not limited to: a) supporting the corporation’s performance improvement process; b) identifying performance trends; c) prioritizing, and recommending improvements;
2. Play a supportive role in ensuring compliance with all healthcare accrediting body standards.
3. Investigate specific areas of concern as identified by hospital leadership.
4. Participate in Quality Improvement activities.

B. RISK MANAGEMENT:
1. Develop, coordinate, and administer facility-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, and reduction. This includes but is not limited to: a) Maintain a network of information sources and experts. b) Perform risk surveys and inspect patient care areas.
c) Conduct unit rounds, and review facility to assess loss potential.
2. Maintains risk management statistics and files following accreditation, state, and federal regulatory agency requirements. 3. Collect, evaluate, and distribute relevant data concerning patient injuries: aggregate data summaries, monthly trend analysis of incidents, and claims profiles.
4. Work with legal counsel to coordinate the investigation, processing, and defense of claims against the facility. Record, collect, document, maintain, and provide to defense attorneys requested information and documents necessary to prepare testimony in pending litigation.
5. Investigate and analyze actual and potential risks in the institution; assess liability and probability of legal action for potential notification to corporate risk and insurance.

The Quality / Risk Management Coordinator reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer.

Experience:
A minimum of four years in an acute care facility is required. Working knowledge of general hospital operations, quality improvement, DNV NIAHO Standards, OSHA, and Medicare Conditions of Participation is preferred.

Two years experience in Quality or Risk Management preferred.

Licenses/Certificates:
Current unrestricted Texas license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Advanced certificate and training preferred.
CPR.
