Under the Radiologist or other physician’s supervision the Radiologic Technologist fulfills the responsibilities necessary in the use of radiography, integrates scientific knowledge, and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. Radiographers must maintain a high degree of accuracy in Radiographic positioning and exposure technique. Radiologic Technologists prepare for and assist the Radiologist in the completion of intricate Radiographic examinations. The technologist will provide patient first service with consideration to safety and operating under the guidance of management and/or established facility policies and procedures to provide an excellent patient experience. Addressing and resolving customer service, communication, efficiency, and safety issues with a high degree of professionalism, without bias, and acting in good faith with the goal of establishing an appropriate, effective, safe, and consistently applied resolution to these matters. Will serve our patient population with a commitment to cooperate, collaborate, working inclusively with all necessary team members (regardless of background) with other team members across modalities within imaging as well as across all departments within the organization. Meets the expectation to engage in cost reduction, expense management, and effective use of supplies and equipment. Discontinue use and report any malfunctioning equipment. Technologist will participate in leadership directed performance improvement and accountability endeavors to meet the standards of the Advent Health and all related governing bodies such as radiation safety (ALARA, proper wear of radiation badge, etc.), patient privacy, JCAHO, etc. Demonstrate personal and professional growth and participate in continuous professional development. Maintains satisfactory participation and attendance at required meetings and staff development programs.


Will work the assigned unit based on his/her orientation, competencies and patient needs.

  • Utilizing proper positioning criteria and technical exposure factors, performs all required imaging projections for given procedure. Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam. Reviews all images on Computed Radiography NX station for evidence and accuracy of RT/LT marker placement and proper orientation. Repeats any view that fails to include all required anatomical structures or lacks proper contrast and spatial resolution. Adheres to all criteria on the Image Quality Action Plan.
  • Completes assigned exams in a timely manner. Keeps work flow coordinator informed of availability and status of all pending exams. Personally follows through with communicating clinical information.
  • Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update orders as needed. Ensures charges match procedure completed. Confirms proper exam/patient assignment at NX before releasing images to PACS for interpretation. Corrects erroneous accession numbers in PACS.
  • Operates and maintains Imaging equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to all infection control standards. Properly wears dosimeter badge and seeks to minimize radiation exposure.

Performs a full range of imaging procedures and operates all imaging equipment in assigned department. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of all ages (neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatrics). The knowledge and skills are acquired through formal training in an approved school, in-service, continuing education and/or experience.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn/adapt to new technologies and protocols and help develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students.
  • Assists with data collection for process improvement initiatives while understanding the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned. Participates in department employee engagement and patient satisfaction initiatives. Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate.
  • Attends department meetings consistently and promotes positive dialogue with respect to department objectives. Listens and is responsible to understand all agenda items.

  • Includes rounding in waiting areas to ensure positive patient experience; answering the phone using scripted greeting; releasing films/exams to patients and/or physician’s office utilizing proper sign out process; printing patient records for release internally and externally and faxing paper records always adhering to HIPAA and/or established guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.


  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions

  • Adult and child/infant CPR
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment


  • Graduate of Radiologic Sciences program


  • AS or BS degree


  • ARRT ( R ) or Registry Eligible
  • Florida State License - General Radiographer
  • CPR Basic Life Support (BLS)
