POSITION SUMMARY:

Delivers advanced professional and technical nursing care to adult and geriatric surgical patients during the immediate post surgical period. Nursing care complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital and care is performed in accordance with the standards and practices of the Association of Peri-anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN). Nursing care utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Collaborates with medical staff and ancillary personnel when delivering age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well-being of the patient. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during treatments and examinations of patients. Critical thinking skills and ability to work in a stressful fast paced environment is essential. Acts as a resource to meet department needs including functioning as a preceptor to new employees, functioning as a charge nurse when needed, etc. Required to work flexible hours and be on call nights, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring of, and compliance of all regulatory and licensing agencies including but not limited to TJC, OSHA, ACHA, CMS, etc.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

Additional Information

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

  • Current Florida RN License
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification
  • One year Post-operative experience required
  • Effective oral communication skills in the English language
