POSITION SUMMARY:

Delivers professional and technical nursing to adult and geriatric patients admitted to the Med/Surg unit with real or potential life threatening illnesses. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well being of the patient. Nursing care delivered complies with the objectives and policies of the hospital utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Works under the direction of, and in collaboration with, the hospital’s medical staff. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit specific standards. Assists in planning, supervising, and instructing Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants, thereby providing nursing care to a number of patients. Knowledge of adherence to monitoring of and compliance with all regulatory and licensing agency guidelines including but not limited to TJC, OSHA, AHCA, CMS, etc.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

Current Florida RN License

Education: Technical School/2 years college/Associates Degree

Current BLS Certification

Computer Skills

Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred

Ability to communicate in English

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
