Position Summary:
Delivers advanced professional and technical nursing care to women of childbearing age through intrapartum, delivery, and initial postpartum period, as well as providing care to women admitted antenatal with preterm labor and/or disease processes during their pregnancy. Delivers advanced professional and technical nursing care to newborns during their first hour(s) of life. Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well being of the patient. Nursing care delivered complies with the objective and policies of the hospital utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Prepares equipment and assist physician during treatment and examination of patients. Collaborates with the medical staff and other disciplines in order to facilitate patient care. Accountable for the smooth, effective, and efficient functioning of the unit during the assigned shift, with minimal direction from the department head. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty or in another patient care unit as assigned by department head or nursing supervisor.

Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities):
Fourteen weeks on the job training. (Includes two weeks orient to scrubbing C/S; twelve weeks orient to
L&D)
One (1) year of acute hospital experience required.
Ability to meet all orientation requirements. Ability to perform in fast-paced, stressful environment.
Graduate from an approved nursing educational program as defined by the National Council of State
Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)

Required Licenses/Certifications:
Current Florida Registered Nurse license.
Holds a current BLS card from the American Red Cross Association
Holds a current NRP card prior to completion of orientation.
Holds a current ACLS card prior to completion of orientation.
Intermediate AWHONN fetal monitoring required within 8 months of hire if no experience or within 3
months of hire if experienced in L&D.
Advanced AWHONN fetal monitoring required within 2 years from hire if no experience or within 3
months of hire if experienced in L&D.
Holds a current Non-Crisis Prevention Intervention card within 6 months if new to area.
