Position Summary:

The Hemodialysis Registered Nurse is responsible for identifying the patient's needs and priorities for care through assessment, planning for and delegating care based on the patient's needs, executing therapeutic physician or nurse initiated interventions, and evaluating the patient's response to care and progress towards outcomes. The Hemodialysis Registered Nurse prepares the patient for dialysis, attaches the equipment, monitors the patient through-out, educates the patient and notifies the physician for any deviations from normal therapy.

Equipment Used: Medication stations, infusion pumps, wheelchairs, stretchers, dialysis machines, tanks.

Hazards: Some exposure to potentially major hazards and frequent exposure to hazards during direct patient contact including exposure to sharps, blood, and body fluids, infectious and other hazardous materials. Universal Precautions are required at all times.

Current Florida RN License

  • BLS & ACLS Certification must be current and from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Skills
  • Completion of Critical Care Course preferred
  • Computer Skills

Required Work Related Experience:

Within 30 days of hire, an employee must: complete general and nursing orientation, demonstrate accuracy and ability in administering medications. Selected competencies. Within 90 days of hire, an employee must: show proficiency in IV therapy skills, demonstrate competence in dialysis competencies.
