Summary:

Responsible to Trumbull Regional Medical Center for supporting the corporate mission, vision, and values. Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer and working in partnership with the hospital administrative team to investigate, resolve, document and report patient and visitor compliments and concerns. Facilitate resolution of complaints and grievances of patients, family members and visitors. Develop, implement and participate in customer service and patient relations initiatives. Provide monthly accountability and variance analysis of customer service outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of summer semester of junior year of an AMA and COARC approved program. Upon graduation from an AMA or COARC approved program, the candidate has one year (12 months) to obtain the RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential in order to maintain employment.
  • Limited permit by the State of Ohio. Educational verification from the college or university affirming clinical exposure.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support by American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. PALS, NRP and ACLS certification preferred.

Job Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:

  • Performs physician prescribed treatments/procedures including, but not limited to: aerosol therapy, IPPB, BIPAP, Incentive Spirometry, Bronchopulmonary hygiene, the Vest, ABG’s, Breathing exercises, NTS, suctioning, and Heliox therapy.
  • Performs physician prescribed diagnostic/monitoring procedures including, but not limited to: bedside pulmonary function screens, pulse oximetry to include continuous, spot checks, exercise and nocturnal studies and sleep apnea screenings.
  • Maintains all mechanical ventilation including but not limited to the set-up, parameter changes, FO2 analysis, and compliance curves, PEEP, CPAP, pressure support, flowby and proper alarm settings.
  • Weans patients from mechanical ventilators per physician’s orders and Department protocols and is competent in ABG interpretation.
  • Initiate delivery of physician prescribed medical gases to include the use of various oxygen devices and equipment to deliver specified concentrations of the gas and humidity to patients.
  • Prepares various medications use for respiratory treatments as ordered by physician.
  • Performs patient instruction on the purpose and procedure of respiratory care being delivered.
  • Processes respiratory care equipment to include cleaning, packaging, and stocking as necessary.
  • Responds to all cardiopulmonary resuscitations calls, disaster and trauma alerts and is responsible for the establishment/maintenance of the airway.
  • Contributes to be multidisciplinary approach in developing patient management plans. Respiratory evaluation and questions/answer studies.
  • As needed, is a member of inter and intra hospital transport teams.
  • Assists in the clinical education and orientation of respiratory care students and staff members.
  • Records all pertinent information regarding Respiratory Care that was administered on patient charts, department records and completes billing as per departmental policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
