POSITION SUMMARY:

The certified respiratory therapist maintains a broad knowledge of respiratory care theory, principles and applications. This

broad knowledge coupled with his/her clinical, technical, administrative, communicative and outcome monitoring skills will be

used to provide delivery of effective respiratory care for the patients at FMC. Responsible to enhance the respiratory care

knowledge and skill levels of Cardiopulmonary Services, Nursing Services and other allied health personnel.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

State of Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance license as a Certified Respiratory Therapist

Current BLS Certification

Minimum one (1) year clinical experience in respiratory care in a hospital

Effective oral and written communication skills

Graduate of an AMA approved respiratory care program

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department

and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work

environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a

friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays

concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to

meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem

areas and recommend solutions.
