Revenue Integrity Specialist

Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Health Information Director, the Revenue Integrity Specialist is accountable for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. Requires skill in the sequencing of diagnoses/procedures to optimize reimbursement. Ensures that records are coded in an accurate and timely manner. Incumbent will be expected to assign ICD and CPT codes for APC's, APG and DRG assignment and abstracting of ancillary outpatient visits, outpatient surgeries and procedures, emergency room records, OB/GYN and newborn admissions, and all inpatient admissions. Incumbent will be expected to perform report building, concurrent coding on patient units, and attend meetings representing the coding area. Incumbent will be expected to monitor charge router and charge review. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CDIP, CPC or CPC-H Certification required upon hire.
  • Two (2) years medical records experience required.
  • Requires typing speed of 35-40 WPM.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
