POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates primary health care planning for the stroke patient in collaboration with physicians and hospital personnel under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Quality Improvement. Responsible for the implementation of evidenced based Stroke protocols and guidelines in accordance with applicable regulatory agencies and stroke organizations. Performance Improvement and data collection processes that pertain to the management of the stroke patient. Will educate nursing staff and medical personnel to achieve quality initiatives related to the Stroke Program and other patient safety initiatives. The Stroke Coordinator will work with the nursing staff, managers and directors of all ancillary departments in establishing and implementing and monitoring hospital-wide protocols/processes for the purpose of developing a standardized structure and quality assurance. Will be responsible for reporting all Stroke Program PI to Quality Council and other hospital committees. Will serve as a resource and educator for the nursing staff, including other ancillary departments. Ability to achieve Stroke Nurse Certification within 1-2 years.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

Additional Information

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

  • Current Florida License (RN, ARNP or PA-C)
  • BSN preferred or 2 years ICU experience
  • Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) preferred
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification
  • Certification in Stroke Education
  • Minimum 2 years ICU experience, Neuro ICU preferred
  • Demonstrates the ability to teach the adult learner at all levels
