Position Purpose:
The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the adult ICU, Progressive Care Unit or Telemetry Unit. The RN is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care in correlation with the Nursing Process, Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Acts, Easton Hospital standards of care, philosophy, mission, and the medical plan of treatment and care.

Education:

Must possess a current Pennsylvania license as a Registered Nurse.

RNs will be expected to pursue successful completion of a critical care course within one year from date of hire.

- Upon successful completion of a critical care course, RNs are expected to be knowledgeable about the physical, psycho social, spiritual, and rehabilitative aspects of the critically ill or potentially unstable patient and capable of applying appropriate therapeutic interventions.

Experience:

Experience as a Registered Nurse in the critical care field is preferred. Education in interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias and critical care IV therapy are required. Must be able to follow directions, perform according to department standards, and be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

Licenses/Certificates:

Current Pennsylvania license as a Registered Nurse. Must obtain and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Must complete and maintain required departmental competencies within 90 days of start date and then annually thereafter.

Telemetry Only – ACLS Certification is required by 12 months of start date.

CCRN, PCCN, or certification in cardio-vascular specialty is encouraged.
