JOB SUMMARY

Responsible to Urgent Care for preparing patients for office visits and performing clinical duties including physician assistance, and the administration of duties within the occupational health delivery system, as well as laboratory and clinical tests. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES

  • Demonstrates independent performance in use of technical skills and applies scientific principles to carry out prescribed orders and nursing actions.
  • Assists physician with procedures and assures appropriate treatment of patients and efficient functioning of department.
  • Provides patient teaching including discharge instructions and follow-up with attending physician
  • Delegates, supervises, and evaluates nursing care according to patient needs and job description. Assumes professional responsibility for patients assigned to assistive personnel.
  • Maintains quality patient care through inservice and training, quality improvement, observation, and other methods of quality control.
  • Assists with order and inventory of supplies and pharmaceuticals.
  • Utilizes systoc software system for information retrieval and statistical reports.
  • Performs patient vision screening on Titmus Vision Screener
  • Completes Audiometric Testing
  • Performs Pulmonary Function Testing through use of Spirometry
  • Performs testing for preplacement and periodic physical exams
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in nursing from a college or technical school required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Previous experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Requires up to 1-2 years’ experience on this or related jobs in a hospital or healthcare facility to develop the judgement necessary to make appropriate decisions and to handle emergency situations.
  • Current Ohio license as a registered nurse by the Ohio Board of Nursing required.
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS by American Heart Association required.
  • Certification in PALS required or obtain within 3 months of employment date.
  • Certification in Spirometry and Audiometry preferred.
